Travelin Man

I can't believe all the traveling around I been doing lately. Well really since Ive met Ryan to be honest. From going to his house from mine in West Virginia every chance I got to traveling to the races and his uncles house. Funny thing is the first 18 years of my life the only other place out of the state I had been was to Kentucky once with my uncle to buy a hunting dog. My how things have changed.

Being down here at Ryans uncles in Tampa is a blast. Getting to play house with Ryan is fun, its getting us ready for when we do move in together and its just the two of us. We had a great time at the races, Kasey finished in 7th which wasn't to bad considering all the crap he went through with the cheating and all. They have a big mall here in Tampa and we been hitting it the last few days. Well Ryan has I just been tagging along I haven't got into the shopping craze like he's got it but Im trying to get the hang of it. The temp has been a little cool so its been keeping us off the beach. I got no reason to complain cause I checked my weather at home and the temp got down to 2 degrees a couple nites in a row so Im not bitchin.

Heres some pics below of around Tampa and the surronding area.

On the way to the International Mall.

Next 2 pics are of Suncoast a gay bar in St.Petersburg

This is some redneck looking bar that reminded me of one in my town

'Sign Of Success'

Normally I try 2 stay away from talkin about bush on here coz ya'll know I am not a fan of his but reading the news this morning while my prince is sleepin beside me I fell I have 2 say something. Is this man that dumb I thought at first maybe he just playin the part but now I truly think he is like the scarecrow from the wizard of oz and he is searching for a brain.

WASHINGTON -- White House officials said President George W. Bush has been briefed by Prime Minister Tony Blair on the planned pullout of 1,500 British troops from Iraq. And, they said, Bush sees it as a "sign of success."

Am I alone here or did I miss something he wants to send 21,000 American troops into Iraq but the British are pulling out and bush sees this as a sign of success. What the hell is wrong with this man has he totally lost it or what? I am really lost for words here I get so upset at him I try not 1 read things or even listen 2 him but this 2 me makes no since what so ever.

To be fair it also goes on and says.....

Britain's leader will reportedly announce a new timetable for pulling out his country's troops on Wednesday, during his regular appearance before parliament.
Blair will reportedly say the plan includes bringing 1,500 British troops home from Iraq within several weeks.
The prime minister is also expected to announce that by the end of the year, 3,000 British troops will have left southern Iraq, if security there is sufficient.

Still with that being said I still don't agree with sending more troops in I think we should get out now period. Some don't agree with me on this and my Dad being one but that's why we are Americans we can agree 2 disagree. Still could someone please help bush find his brain b4 its 2 late! Remember this people I seen this on another website and just loved it. Nobody died when Clinton lied!

What City Sunday

Uncle Gerry from Nichevo here in for Ryan and Mike who are this day running around the pits at Daytona having a great time waiting for the 500 to begin. It has been a long tradition here at Boys Are Ugly But So Cute to post a What City Sunday, so I thought I would follow in that tradition today. The city in question lies on a river named for a state other than the one in which it is located in an area first explored by Europeans in 1709. The original settlers were the Tickanwatic tribes. The first sale of plotted land for development was August 1. 1839. It is the county seat of a county named for a famous war hero. Like Rome, Italy, it is a city of hills, it even has a mountain within the city limits. This city has doubled in population every 20 years through out its history. The immigrant groups with thriving communities in the city include Germans, Swedes, and Mexicans. This city is home to hi-tech companies such as the Fortune 500 company launched by a 19 year old student from his dorm room at the college located here. The city is creative also as it is the second most popular location for filming in the US and is home to the longest running music show on TV. Here is how the city describes itself:

  • It's hip and trendy, yet in a vintage sort of way. It's high-tech and laid-back. It's politically charged and culturally rich. It's eclectic by nature and creative by design. Most of all, it's a place where people like to have a good time.
So what city do you think this is? Here are some photos for hints:

February Mystery Guest

Uncle Gerry from Nichevo here for Ryan and Mike while they are off in Florida. One of the features at Nichevo is interviews with LGBT persons of note as well as music of various genres. I tend to listen to Classical music, but have an appreciation for most all genres. The Mystery Guest for February is not Gay as far as I know, I never asked him, but he is a dynamic pianist and composer whom I think you will enjoy, check him out:

Today, as promised earlier in these pages, I would like to introduce to you February's Mystery Guest. I met this gentlemen on My Space when he requested to be my friend. I view his profile and watched his videos. I then wrote asking if I could post his videos on Nichevo. He said to wait until February as by then his My Space page would be ready. His name is Kai Miano, a composer and pianist from Germany. I have four of his videos here for you today. The first is his latest video shot in Italy, the second is an interview/making of the Italian video, the third and fourth are earlier concert videos with the Frankfurt Synphoniker. Kai's music is melodic and ethereal, or as he says romantic and dreamed. Wrote his first song at age 7 and continues to write prolifically and plays beautifully. He takes his inspiration from many sources, one of them being his son Andreas in the case of From Fairy Elfs and Wizards, the fourth video. Check out his My Space page and his official website for more details about this fascinating muscian. EnJoy!

UPDATE

I just got a message from Kai over on My Space. He likes the post but I got the name of his son wrong. Andreas is his very good friend and his son's name is Patrick. Uncle Gerry apologizes for his mistake, now on with the show!

Two Videos Focus on the Family DOESN'T Want You To See!

Uncle Gerry from Nichevo here for Ryan and Mike while they are off cavorting around Florida! I want you to watch two new videos from Wayne Besen's organization Truth Wins Out. The first video is and interview with Dr. Robert Spitzer and his reactions to the outrageous usage of his study by James Dobson, Focus on th Family, and Exodus International. It is interesting to see the author of the most quoted study in Ex-Gaydom state that because of the size of his study and the difficulty in finding subjects for it, he must conclude that change from homo to hetero is possible but extremely rare. The second video is of a married couple, now divorced, on how churches teaching you can pray away the gay are destroying families in the name of family values. Both are very interesting and for sure Focus on the Family does not want you to see them. So (deleted expletives) FOF, here is the truth, may it set you free!

And finally to close the post these two drawings remind me of Ryan and Mike and the love they share. Later from Big D!

MySpace Mystery

Guest Blogger Patti_Cake here again. I will be posting today and Thursday but then Friday through I believe the following Thursday I won't have any internet access i'll be moving so you might have a few "dark" days depending on Uncle Gerry's circumstances.
I received a message on MySpace from someone named Lilly who lists their age as 22 and lives in the same town I do. They asked if I am P____ S_____ that went to ______ high school. I replied Yes I am. I am thinking maybe this is the daughter of someone I went to school with but the suspense is killing me! Has anyone else ever had a similar incident or someone just pop up out of their past? I have dealt with two stalkers (Not related to blogging or MySpace) in the past so I am a bit wary....

Ex-Gay Watch Videos Concerning "Love Won Out"

Uncle Gerry from Nichevo here for Ryan and Mike. I posted this first video on my blog last Monday and the last two were made available on Sunday. Daniel Gonzalez from Ex-Gay Watch emailed me a heads up on the first video and I found the other two at his site Sunday Morning so I thought I would present them to you today. Exodus International held a "Love Won Out" conference on Saturday where once again they sited the Spitzer Study in defense of their stand on changing homosexuals to heterosexuals. The following videos from Ex-Gay Watch tell the truth about the Spitzer Study and shows the Press Conference held in response to the conference.

The Spitzer Study of Ex-Gay Therapy: Methodological Flaws and Political Abuse

A study of gay conversion therapy released by Dr. Robert Spitzer in 2001 sent shockwaves through the American media despite serious methodological concerns. This video examines those concerns and goes on to examine how the study has been abused by anti-gay political organizations such as James Dobson’s Focus on the Family to promote anti-gay public policy.

Soulforce Equality Ride 2007

Uncle Gerry from Nichevo here ghost writing for Ryan and Mike as they are in the Pits at Daytona and all around Florida on vacation. My cohort in the effort is Patti from Patti-Cake Land and we shall be sharing time keeping you in reading material while the boys are out having a good time. Now for today's subject:

The 2007 Soulforce Equality Ride is the second annual ride featuring 56 Riders in 2 buses visiting 32 schools including my alma mater Baylor University in Waco, Texas. One of the reasons they are visiting the schools around the nation is to bring about a change in policy like this one from Baylor:

  • "Baylor will be guided by the understanding that human sexuality is a gift from the creator God and that the purposes of this gift includes (1) the procreation of human life and (2) the uniting and strengthening of the marital bond in self-giving love. These purposes are to be achieved through heterosexual relationships within marriage. Misuses of God's gift will be understood to include, but not be limited to, sexual abuse, sexual harassment, sexual assault, incest, adultery, fornication and homosexual acts."
Back when I went to Baylor, this was the policy, but even more surreal was the fact that young women could not wear pants or shorts on campus except for gym shorts while in the gym. They have loosened a little but the above stated policy still is fully in force. This needs to change.

For reasons as to why the 56 young people have taken up the challenge to try and affect change, here are some of their own words:

From Brandon Kneeful in Livonia, Michigan: "We have been given a window of opportunity to change the world. The time and place is now. There is a platform that needs to be used; if we don't use this delicate time to progress society, then someone else will use it to digress society. Our world needs to see that the BGLT youth is full of love, life, and goodness. We are whole as we are! The world was educated against the BGLT community for centuries; the way we correct this is to get out there, build relationships, and re-educate, and to do this not out of pride that will only cause dissent, not out of hate that will bring us suffering, but out of a unifying compassion for those who have been taught to "change" us. Those of us who are aware enough to educate, must. When my parents said that I cannot be a gay man and a Christian, I said: I am a gay man and a Christian. When my church reached out to "help" me because, in their eyes, a gay man cannot be a Christian, I said: I am a gay man and a Christian. And when the world tries to exclude my identity because they believe that it is oxymoronic, I will say I am a Christian and a gay man, both founded on love."

From Jeremy Gabbard in Arkadelphia, Arkansas: "I think that the Equality Ride tackles one of the biggest opportunities for advancing gay rights in the United States, because what these students learn in their university shapes their beliefs and attitudes for the rest of their lives. If they are taught intolerance for four years in school, they will most likely continue to be intolerant. One day, I'd really love to see GLBT students being out and proud on all campuses, instead of being forced into the closet. More than anything, I'd like to see the Ride create love and acceptance. That's it. It sounds cliché, but if everyone loves and accepts each other, small differences like sexual orientation suddenly aren't so big."

From Robin Reynolds in Valdosta, Georgia: "I fight for those who struggle with this today, those who have yet to meet the point in their journey when they realize, "I am a part of God, perfect the way I am. I reflect God." I fight for those whose voices are blocked by fear, who can’t scream or shout or command a halt to the violence and dehumanization they suffer. Like Dr. King and so many others, I too have a dream. I dream that my children will be allowed academic freedom at any institution without fear of dismissal. I fight for people of faith who love God, but have found that their religious community has shut them out or made them second-class citizens by restricting their privileges. Lastly, I fight for Americans who experience gross injustices and the erosion of their constitutional rights due to legacies of untruth. I am on the Equality Ride because it speaks to my life and I know these pains well. I fight with love and hope and faith."

These are just 3 of the 56 who have dedicated themselves to making life better for all of us. Each of the 56 has committed to raising $3500 to help defray the cost of the Ride. To find out more about sponsoring a Rider go here. This is the largest project in Soulforce history and here are some statistics on the cost:

  • The 2007 Equality Ride will cost approximately $387,500. Chartering the buses will cost $100,000. Flights to training sessions at the start of the ride will cost about $28,000. Hotels will run about $80,000. Food will be about $48,000. Printed materials to distribute to the colleges, such as Soulforce's What the Bible Says - And Doesn't Say - About Homosexuality, will be about $36,000.
  • These college kids know how to stretch their dollars. A donation of $400 will fill up a bus's gas tank. A gift of $250 will provide a meal for everybody on the ride. A gift of $75 will buy housing for four riders for one night.
  • Soulforce continues to be the only national organization that utilizes Dr. King's brand of peaceful "take it to the streets" activism in the pursuit of LGBT justice.
  • Your support is urgently needed. The first stop on the ride for both the East and West buses is March 8th and we need $310,000 in the bank by then.
If you can help by sponsoring one of the Riders, please do so at www.soulforce.org/2007riders, click on a picture and read their stories, then show some love and support. A collage of all the riders is just below this paragraph. Stop by Patti-Cake Land and Nichevo and check out our blogs, post a comment and let us know what you think.

So long for now from Big D!

Death

Hi! Guest Blogger Patticake here while Ryan and Mike screw around in FL attend speed week at the Daytona 500 and house-sit for Ryan's Uncle! :)

Death scares me. A lot. Two people that I know have died in the past week. Thankfully I wasn't close to them but I knew them and it bothers me.
Anna Nicole Smith died Thursday. She was a year younger than me. It surprised me, and yet it didn't. It was pretty obvious (to me, anyway) she was a drugged out mess. It makes me sad for her little baby girl though. I wonder if her brother and mother's deaths will taint her life or will she be raised by someone who has the good sense to try and downplay those events (if it can be done).
I am a morbid curious person though. I wanted to see pics of Howard K. Stern. Of Kimmie (her asst. who had Anna's pic tattooed on her) .... of Bobby Trendy! Can you tell I watched the Anna Nicole show on E!? What a hot mess THAT was..............

Were off 2 the Races

It's hard 2 believe but it's Nascar season again most of ya'll know me and Mikey are really big Nascar fans and it helps having a friend in the business. So this is what were doing Friday were flying down 2 Daytona for the Budweiser Shootout on Saturday night. Then Sunday were going to hang out at the beach with some friends and Monday going over 2 the other coast to hang with some family until Thursday and back 2 Daytona until Sunday night. We are stayin with my friend on the field so that just totally rocks. We will be there for the Gatorade twin 125's and for the truck and busch race then the big race on Sunday The Daytona 500! Yes we are white trash with money at it's finest can't get more redneck than that only thing different in me and the other redneck boys is ill be the 1 wearing abercrombie, banana republic, diesel, hollister, and tommy haha. Mikey will be in his walmart redneck stuff haha love u babe!

Ok while we are gone we will have guest bloggers for the first time on Boys are Ugly. I think we have 2 great choices to blog 4 ya'll while we are gone so please show them as much love as you show me and Mikey. Who knows we might sneak in with a post with some Daytona pics who knows. Oh after Daytona 500 we are going over 2 the Tampa area to babysit my Uncle's place again he's off to England for a week. We love stayin at his place and playing house. Need A Laugh?

Super Upset

Last few days I have been really upset and letting something eat away at me and I know I shouldn't be but I let it and until I get it off my chest it's gonna keep eating away. So here it goes I have been having a lot of trouble with so called friends of mine. Seems many of them are upset coz I don't have the time 4 them anymore like they think I should have. So I am going on record and say right here and now the most important thing in my life is Mikey. I plan on spendin the rest of my life with him I believe he is the 1 and my soulmate and I am very sorry 4 those who think I will give up my time with him 2 be with them.

I been accused of not callin people like I use 2 also not answerin emails and not posting like I was on this blog. Let me say it again Mikey is the most important thing in my life. Cell phones, emails, this blog, or any other blog for that matter comes second. If i have a chance of doing something with Mikey or being on the computer I am going 2 pick Mikey every time. I think those that read this blog and have 4 years know where I am coming from and totally understand. Most of you feel the same way as I do about your better half and your blog has become second maybe even third or forth in your life. When me and Mikey didn't live together it was easier for me 2 blog but now I would rather spend the time with him. I have only got a few complaints from the blog world coz most of u understand where I am coming from.

Now I haven't turn my back on my friends at all when there involved with someone I knew I took a backseat and I was ok with that coz I feel that is the way it's suppose 2 be. But I have the 1 I love with me they feel I am giving them the shaft. I am thinkin in my mind they weren't good friends in the first place and it's all about them well not anymore. This is my life and it's all about makin me happy and Mikey happy hell they forget I was sick and spent damn near 2 weeks in the hospital but yeah where were my so called friends then? Whatever like I said Mikey comes first blogs, emails, cell phones, friends need 2 jump in the backseat and deal or get the fuck out of my car!

Later from Atlanta!
