Is it possible to forget? I mean, Dubya's not even a year out of office and he kept on reminding us about how terrible the middle east is. The US and UK fucked up most of the middle east of course, but that's beside the point. Furthermore, this was a tragic situation, yes, but it was not the only plane high jacking, not the only terrorist attack, and not the only mass casualty to occur. All it did was show that the US isn't untouchable, so get your heads out of your friggin' arse.
So, Ryan, no, we haven't forgotten. The US won't let us forget, especially the Right. Damned fascists.

Nice Post. I wrote something too.

I can't forget that day. I wasn't that far away, and I had friends and family in Manhattan. I was scared to death that something had happened to them.

  3. No I will never forget either but I am tired of some people just being plain dramatic over it. I am NOT talking about you either :)

nice post and no i will never forget and it doesnt take "the right" as janek puts it to remnind me. the fact that 2,974 people died makes me not forget. probably if you was american you wouldnt have such a political view of it.

Thanks for the post - it is good to remember and I think I always will. I'm not sure what "Drama" Monogram Queen was talking about. I am also unclear about this "Fascist" thing Janek was talking about. Mussilini was a Fascist and he teamed up with Hitler - you know, the guy that was head of the National Socialist German Workers' Party. That would indicate that the extreme "left" would be more "Fascist" than the "right". The "Right" as you put it Janek, is into what is called unrestrained Capitolism - America is a democratic capitolistic society, both left and right and BTW that is why the towers were targeted because they represented our FREE capitol system.

It was a trajedy and I will always remember it. Thanks again for the post Ryan.

I too like your post, Ryan. But I am also 'put off' by some of the responses.

Forget? We won't let you forget?

Nearly 3000 people perished that day. No. We won't forget. Not ever!

Just like we won't forget the people who perished in the Holocaust. And we won't forget those who died from the tsunami.

We won't forget the terrorist attacks against England, nor the ones against Australia. Nor the one against the USS Cole.

We took our heads out of the sand, and yes, headed in the wrong direction, Iraq.

But now our attention goes to Afghanistan, and really, Pakistan.

Can anyone imagine what would happen if the Taliban or Al-Qaeda gained solid foothold in the Pakistani government? A country with nukes?

If Special Forces failed to destroy their nukes, then the entire region would be annihilated.

No one wants to do that! And that is why we WON'T let you forget.

Janek, by pointing out all the other terrorist atacks that have occurred you show why any decent, knowledgeable person anywhere in the world supports the effort to overcome the terrorists. For you are right, it is not just the U.S. that is under attack, it is western civilization. And has happened before, we are carrying the world's burden.

Thanks for the post, Ryan. I think that we definitely need to defend ourselves against the terrorist fanatics by going after their organizers. But it's not going to be quick or easy, because the hatred of the U.S. is so easily stirred up by fanatics.
