Absolutely rescue dogs! My first dog was picked up after being dumped out of a car at about 6 weeks old. The second came from the shelter. My first cat was a stray that I rescued. The second was a shelter cat. I can't understand why people pay huge amounts of money to get a dog with papers for a pet. If you want to show them, OK, but for a family pet, find a local rescue group. Those dogs are THE BEST! It's like they know you saved them, and they love you all the more because of it.
